The aims of the qualification are to enable learners:
To gain a general awareness of dementia care issues.
Encourage learners to use person-centred approaches to the care and support of individuals with dementia.
Provide learners with an understanding of factors that can influence communication.
Provide learners with and understanding of the impact that equality, diversity and inclusion can have on the individual’s experience of dementia.
Learners are assessed on:
- Dementia Awareness
- The person centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
- Understanding the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
- Understanding equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care.
Recommended Prior Knowledge, Attainment and/or Experience: No previous knowledge or experience is required.
Age Range of Qualification:
This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and over.
Opportunities for progression
The knowledge gained through the achievement of this qualification can be used to demonstrate competence in the Level 2 Certificate in Dementia Care. The achievement can also be mapped to the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
This qualification can only be offered by centres recognised by Ascentis and approved to run this qualification. Frontline Training Services is an Ascentis Accredited centred. All units are internally assessed through the learner building up a portfolio of evidence that covers the relevant assessment criteria, internally assessed and verified by the centre and then externally verified by Ascentis.
