The Intellectual Disability Studies course has been specifically designed by the Leinster Institute of Professional Development so that students are equipped to provide the optimal levels of support required for people with intellectual disabilities and their families in a variety of settings.
Who should apply?
This course is aimed at teachers, special needs assistants, parents and any other adults interesting in learning about Intellectual Disability studies.
Course Content
The course content is as per the QQI Module Descriptor (5N1652).
There are three units of study:
Unit 1: Context of Intellectual Disability
Unit 2: Models of Service Provision
Unit 3: Holistic Care
Unit 4: Caring for Those with Specific Needs
